Are you a good candidate for a credit card? I’m not talking here about whether or not the lender is likely to give you this piece of plastic, but if you should be applying for it in the first place. The truth of the matter is that there are so many people who just shouldn’t ever get a credit card at all and this is for their own good. A credit card can be a dangerous little piece of plastic because there are a number of people who will end up struggling under a mountain of debt because of it and this debt is something that they may find hard to ever get out of. There are plenty of people who regret ever getting this card, and you will want to make sure that you don’t end up as one of them.
There is no doubting the fact that a credit card can be a great thing to have. It means you can easily get your hands on cash in an emergency, and it is nice to not have to wait until pay day to buy the things we want. It is also a reality that online shopping usually requires a credit card; although these days there are a lot of websites that accept debit cards as well. A credit card can be great provided that at the end of each month, you pay off what you have borrowed, and you never actually borrow more than you can afford to pay back.
Many of us are just not good candidates for credit cards. Abusing this card is something that many of us can’t seem to stop ourselves doing. We will buy things we don’t really need and carry credit card debt from one month to the next. If we are given an increase in our limit, we will celebrate and it won’t take us long to reach this limit. It is soon a case where regret starts to set in because debt gets out of hand.
